How Africlub.net Works
The model for africlub.net is taken from the social networking phenomenon with sites like mySpace and Facebook. This however is not a social site but an enterprise site, allowing organisations and individuals to get websites at basement prices provided they are willing to select designs from the available designs and provide their information (in websites called 'content') by filling out forms. In addition, organisations select which links they desire and pay a fee of KShs 2,500 for the basic package, KShs 3,500 for the standard or KShs 4,500 for the premium package. This is an annual fee.
This page is a response to questions we've received from our early customers. It serves to clarify what our packages do and do not offer in order to make perfectly clear what you get for your money.
IF YOU NEED
- e-commerce within your site through what is known as an SSL or secure socket layer
- a CMS or content management system that allows you to update and change your site by yourself whenever you wish without going through us
- a website that allows your users to sign in and have their own accounts where they get personalised space or any website that requires an elaborate database and the use of various scripting languages
- a site entirely Flash animated with a great deal of "bells and whistles"
- to spend lots of time with the web designer deciding what you want and how you want it done
- the ability to edit, update or customise your website yourself
- just hosting where you design your own site
- to decide what you want on your site, or to write elaborate text for your site which you want to take a long time doing
- a process that takes long
then this service IS NOT for you.
We're not chasing away this kind of customer: we simply choose to focus our resources on the needs of our core market.
The Procedure
Our process is simple. It is more clearly explained on our
How to Register page but here it is in a summary fashion.
1st you choose which package you want.
2nd you choose a design from our design section; you also choose the links and colours you require. When you have finished doing that you download our Information Form and fill it out according to what you want on your website.
3rd you prepare any photos you want on your site and either email them to us (recommended) or put them on a CD.
4th you download and fill out our Registration Form and sign it. Bring the above, together with your payment to our offices (see Talk to Us page) or call our Customer Service number.
5th Once we have received your Information Form, any photos, Registration Form and payment, in 4 working days or less your website will be up on the internet.
...BUT EVEN MORE!
Here are additional services that add value to the basic packages offered. They allow for some flexibility in tailoring your site and can be added on (we call them Add-Ons) at any time during the year your site is registered.
- Updates: Our updates service, remarkably low priced, offers update of any page at a cost of KShs 100 per page per update, effected in 4 working days or less. This means your organisation can change its Products page every week, including changes of photos (you provide the photos) at the cost of only KShs 100 for every update. This makes keeping your website current exceedingly easy.
- Animations: We shall be adding animations (moving images) to our Extras Boutique as they are created. They will range in price from KShs 500 to 900; animations are sometimes popular because they give a site movement making it more dynamic. Our Extras Boutique will offer members various add-ons that enhance their website's functions.
- Form-mail: Form-mail is a page that allows visitors to your site to input text that gets submitted directly into your email inbox. We offer form-mail on our Extras Boutique as an add-on at KShs 900. This is a one time cost and is not charged annually like the registration fee.
- Video or Sound (Audio) media: Streaming media is also available for embedding onto a page on customers' websites. The cost for this depends on the media and consequently how much time engineering it will take our web design department, typically KShs 500 to 900 per video or sound file). Consult a customer service officer to find out more about this service.
- Additional photos on Photo Galleries: Additional photos can be added onto a Photo Gallery at the cost of KShs 50 for every extra photo (after the limit of 50). Please contact a customer service officer for more information on how Photo Galleries appear on africlub.net.
- Additional pages: Additional new pages cost a mere KShs 150 per page. This refers to new pages over and above the 6 pages already paid for with the package.
